Unfortunately, they ran into a more formidable opponent in the Buffalo Bills, at Buffalo's War Memorial Stadium. The Chargers held the lead at the end of the first quarter, yet the Bills defense turned out to be far more than the Chargers could handle. The Bills offense began to click, outscoring San Diego, 17-0 in quarters 2-4, for a 20-7 championship victory.

The 1964 NFL Championship didn't offer much of a contest. Before the opening kick, fans of both the visiting Baltimore Colts, and home team Cleveland Browns expected a battle, but nobody expected the Browns to dominate on both sides of the ball. The Browns offense put up 27 points, and the defense kept Johnny Unitas and the Colts offense out of the end zone for a final score of 27-0. '64 still stands as the most recent championship for any Cleveland professional sports team.

The team in green continued their NBA domination with another title in 1964. The Boston Celtics easily handled the San Francisco Warriors in 5 games of a 7 game series, winning game 5 at home 105-99. This marked the eighth consecutive trip to the NBA Finals for the Boston dynasty, and fifth consecutive championship.

The 1964 Stanley Cup Finals offered fans a rematch of the contest from a year prior. The Toronto Maple Leafs were looking to repeat, and their cross-border American rival, the Detroit Red Wings were out for a little revenge. The closely contested series went all seven games, and in a slight dramatic twist, the Maple Leafs lay down a surprising, statement win for a repeat as Stanley Cup Champions—they took game 7, 4-0, at home in front of their fans.

World Series Championship – Top Sports Scores of 1964

The 1964 World Series was a battle for the ages. The two most decorated franchises in baseball history, the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals, met for a seven game thriller that highlighted serious baseball talent and future Hall of Famers Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and Mickey Mantle. Both teams were able to stake claim on the other's home field, and the series pushed deep into game 7 before the Cardinals would claim a 7-5 victory at home in the original Busch Stadium.
